Just like community creators, creators of Premium series always own the rights to their story. Your creative freedom is very important to us, and we want to support you!
We work with each creator to tailor their Premium deal to their needs by offering both nonexclusive and exclusive contracts. If you’re already publishing your novel on another platform or think you might like to do so in the future, the nonexclusive contract is probably best for you. If you’re happy to allow Tapas to be the sole digital publisher of your series, exclusive is the way to go.
Both types of contract give you a dedicated account manager to keep you updated through the production process and a certain level of marketing support, though since our exclusive authors will only be publishing on Tapas, they’ll receive a bit more help. Exclusive creators receive a more customized marketing campaign from Tapas’ marketing team, as well as additional support from the Novels team in terms of editorial notes and additional off-the-shelf marketing tactics.
When you sign a Premium contract, you grant Tapas the right to publish and sell your novel digitally worldwide in English. Tapas Premium contracts typically run for three years with an option to renew when that period has ended. Premium authors split the revenue from Ink sales on their series with Tapas, typically 50/50. Royalties are paid once a month, as long as the revenue amount due to you is over $25.
You also have the option to choose to share some additional rights with Tapas, which allows Tapas to be an agent for your series. In this case, Tapas can pitch your story to more companies for future opportunities like audiobooks, TV series, or film. Premium novels can also be considered by our Novel-to-Comic team for comic adaptation on Tapas.
