If you are interested in being featured in Staff Picks or New & Noteworthy, following the guidelines about what you should and should not post on Tapas is a good start. Beyond that, we look for quality writing that we feel is the best the community has to offer. This means that your story has to be good and well-written and also update somewhat regularly. You also want to make sure you are using your best grammar and spelling. A few mistakes won't kill you (we all make them!), but the more love and care you show your work, the more it shows, and the more likely you are to be featured. Also, make sure you're following the guidelines laid out in our Terms of Service and Content Guidelines.
It's also important to note that the length of your episodes matters, especially when it comes to getting featured. Tapas has a 15,000 character limit on novel episodes because we are a platform for bite-sized stories that people can read within a few minutes. If you have a novel with very long chapters, it is unlikely to be featured simply because it’s too long for most people to get through in one sitting. A good rule of thumb is to keep all of your episodes between 500 to 1,500 words. An example of novels that make great use of shorter episodes is Little Distractions or Speak the Truth with most of the episodes clocking in between 500 to 700 words. I Didn't Ask to Marry You, Male Lead! or Respectfully Yours episodes stay consistently at a comfortable 1,000 words, which makes it much easier for readers to sink their teeth into.
