We want everyone to be able to get Ink to unlock episodes and support creators on Tapas, so in addition to buying it in the Ink Shop, we offer a variety of ways to earn Free Ink.
One type of Free Ink offer that may be available is the opportunity to take a survey. Surveys on Tapas are powered by Pollfish, which conducts market research on behalf of other companies.
You should be aware of a few ways surveys are different than other Free Ink offers:
1. There may be screening questions to determine your eligibility
Before a "real" survey begins, there may be demographic or other screening questions to determine your eligibility to participate. A survey will not always be available for every person on Tapas, and you may be screened out based on the targeting criteria of the survey creators.
If you are not eligible for a particular survey, you will not be allowed to continue the survey and will not receive any reward. You may also not see some surveys available to others on Tapas.
It's important to answer demographic and screening questions accurately, however, since not being eligible for one survey now may mean being eligible for a different one later!
2. Surveys may start or stop at any time
Surveys are controlled by the survey creator and distributed based on their needs, and so may come and go from the Pollfish platform in an unpredictable way.
Depending on the survey creator's targeting criteria, as well as the number of responses they are seeking, it's possible for a survey you're taking to end before you're able to complete it and receive a reward. Surveys are distributed on a first come, first served basis to users who meet the targeting criteria, across all the apps and websites using Pollfish.
In other words, if the survey creator needs 5,000 responses, the survey will end once the first 5,000 eligible participants complete the survey and receive their reward.
3. Rewards are only earned after completing a survey properly
Unfortunately, rewards for taking a survey are only given if the survey is completed, fully and with care.
If you are not eligible to complete a particular survey, or if a survey ends before you're able to complete it, you will not receive a reward.
Additionally, no reward will be earned if the survey is not completed properly. Pollfish has anti-fraud measures in place to check completed surveys, and will deny rewards if their quality standards are not met. Answering hastily, using a VPN, submitting random gibberish, tapping through a survey to reach the end as quickly as possible, or a number of other activities may prevent receiving a reward.
As with video ads, Tapas passes along the full amount of any reward earned from Pollfish surveys to you in the form of Ink – if you don't earn a reward, it means Tapas also didn't receive anything from the sponsor.
What to do if you're not eligible or no surveys are available
We know it's a real bummer to spend time trying to take a survey, only to get nothing when you're screened out or the survey you started ends early. However, given the size of Free Ink rewards you can potentially earn, we think offering the Pollfish survey option is worth it.
If you're not eligible for current surveys or none are available, there's unfortunately nothing Tapas can do to directly change the situation. You may be eligible for future surveys, though, so check back later for more to be added along with other Free Ink offers.
